Summary

The “Scientist” position is a key contributor to the ongoing research at SSPI reporting to senior scientists or directors. “Scientist” will contribute through conducting solid form screening experiments, characterizing the resulting material, preforming crystallization process development for active pharmaceutical ingredients and natural products through utilizing the physical chemistry knowledge and hands on experiences. It is expected to have 70-80% lab work.

Job Responsibility

  • Design and preform high throughput polymorph screening, salt screening, solubility measurements and characterization under direction of senior scientist or director.
  • Design and preform crystallization process development, under direction of senior scientist or director, to achieve desired polymorph and specifications while meeting the specs.
  • Characterize the generated samples using X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRPD), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermal Gravimetry Analysis (TGA), Liquid Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
    (NMR), Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS), Optical Microscope, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Particle Size Analyzer and HPLC.
  • Record all details of experiments and analytical data
  • Analyze data that are obtained from experiments and draw conclusions
  • Use Design of Experiments (DOE) software to perform statistical analysis of generated experimental data
  • Write high quality weekly and final reports
  • Routinely present the project results to the team through teleconference
  • Follow the safety rules and housekeeping principles to ensure all working areas are clean and safe
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Education & Experience

MSc (0-3 years related experience) or PhD (0 year), in chemical engineering. Previous experience in crystallization science and engineering is a plus.

Candidates with more experience are encouraged to apply as the title could be adjusted.

Skills

  • Laboratory techniques for conducting wet chemistry experiments
  • Knowledge of XRPD, DSC, TGA, STDA, SEM, DVS, NMR, HPLC and particle size analyzer is a plus
  • Knowledge of crystallization engineering and solid form screening principles is a plus
  • Knowledge of Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) tools is a plus. Specifically, FBRM, React-IR and PVM
  • Knowledge of statistical Design of Experiment (DOE) is a must

The “Laboratory Analyst” position is a key contributor to the ongoing research at SSPI, performing complex analytical work either directly on behalf of clients, or contributing as part of a team to a larger project.  This role will be central to our operations working with and reporting to either a Senior Scientist or other as assigned. The “Laboratory Analyst” will have an opportunity to perform their analytical work with our extensive list of leading-edge equipment. The role will comprise approximately 70-80% hands on lab work.

Job Responsibility

  • Characterize pharmaceutical samples using X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRPD), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermal Gravimetry Analysis (TGA), Karl Fisher (KF) Titration, Liquid Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS), Optical and Hot Stage Microscope, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), UV-Vis spectroscopy, Particle Size Analyzer, BET Surface Area Analyzer, HPLC, Gas Chromatography (GC), etc.
  • Employ analytical expertise for sample preparation and analysis
  • Operate and maintain analytical instruments
  • Record all the results in accordance with best practices
  • Write high quality weekly and final reports
  • Routinely present project results to the team in person and through teleconference
  • Follow the safety rules and housekeeping principles to maintain a clean and safe work environment

Education & Experience

Minimum BSc in chemistry, analytical chemistry or related, with more than 2 years of QC or analytical experience

Logistics Coordinator

Summary

Reporting to Office manager, or other as assigned, the Logistics Coordinator is a contributor to the operations at SSPI. “Logistics Coordinator” will contribute through preparing and maintaining inventory, sourcing and procurement of chemicals, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Inventory, sourcing, and procurement of lab supplies, chemicals, and some equipment
  • Co-ordination with office manager and technical team regarding purchasing of supplies, chemicals, and equipment
  • Maintaining and preparing documentation including equipment SOPs, maintenance plans, calibration documents
  • Preparing shipments and required documentation
  • Maintaining accurate SDS database in all laboratories
  • Assisting with maintenance of Quality Management System (QMS) as per ISO 9001:2015 Standard
  • Follow the safety rules and housekeeping principles to maintain clean and safe working environment
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum college degree or equivalent experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Office, Word, Excel)
